What are Menstrual Disorders?
Menstrual disorders encompass physical and/or emotional symptoms that cause disruption in the body prior to, during, or around the time of menstruation. These symptoms may include excessive blood flow, skipped menstrual cycles, and uncontrollable mood swings.
Types of Menstrual Disorders:
If any of the symptoms you encounter before or during menstruation become problematic, you may be dealing with a menstrual cycle “disorder.” These include:
Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), which may include heavy menstrual bleeding, no menstrual bleeding (amenorrhea) or bleeding between periods (irregular menstrual bleeding)
Dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods)
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Premenstrual dysphonic disorder (PMDD)
If you suspect any disorders in your menstrual cycle, booking a consultation with Dr. Manal Younis for an accurate diagnosis is recommended. In anticipation of the appointment, it would be beneficial to maintain a log documenting the occurrence and length of your periods. Furthermore, take note of any additional indications (like abdominal pain) and ensure that you are ready to provide details about your medical background during the discussion with Dr. Younis.
